Entourage Success Stories: Tessiga Soro – From Energy in Europe to Impact in Africa

As Technical Compliance Manager at TotalEnergies, Tessiga Soro represents a new generation of talents committed to the African continent. Originally from Côte d’Ivoire, she divides her journey between the rigor of European markets and a clear ambition: to contribute meaningfully to Africa’s energy transition.

Can you introduce yourself in a few words and tell us about your current role?
I’m Tessiga Soro, Technical Compliance Manager for Energy Savings Certificates (CEE) at TotalEnergies in Nantes, France. I work in a highly regulated sector, ensuring the compliance of project files so they meet the requirements of the French National CEE Office. The CEE is a government scheme designed to encourage energy savings by incentivizing stakeholders to carry out work or actions that reduce energy consumption, in line with climate objectives.

You’re a great example of a diaspora talent who wants to create impact in Africa. What drives you toward a purpose-driven career on the continent?
It wasn’t a sudden realization but a deeply rooted conviction. Since leaving Côte d’Ivoire in 2016, I’ve always known I would return to my roots. I believe in the power of collective effort: if everyone brings their skills, we can truly create value on the continent.

What are the main challenges you see in building this impact-driven career?
Today, I notice a lack of clarity in the regulatory framework in Africa—particularly in the energy transition sector, where topics are still emerging and not yet stabilized. I’m in an observation phase, identifying the pioneers, their trajectories, and how they balance environmental ambitions with institutional realities.

How did you discover Entourage and what motivated you to book a session?
I came across a LinkedIn post three days before the launch. I immediately connected with the concept. I spontaneously wrote to the founder to congratulate her. Then I booked my first session with Almoktar Allahoury, Managing Director of Total Energie Marketing Côte d’Ivoire. That session gave me valuable insight into the strategic guidelines for Africa’s energy transition—particularly in Côte d’Ivoire. It was exactly what I needed.

What types of support have you tried on Entourage, and what did you gain from them?
I’ve done several sessions, including a group mentoring program with Nabou Fall. In a small group, we worked on personal branding, public speaking, and management. It was intense, caring, and highly impactful. I also attended the Paris Afterwork, and exchanges with experts like Teddy Kossoko helped me embrace my multidisciplinary profile. Yann Hazoumé reminded me that you can make an impact without being an entrepreneur. Sarah Doukouré and N’Geur Sarr helped me assert myself and fully own my ambitions.

Have you already seen tangible results from these exchanges with our experts?
Yes, I’ve become much more confident in public speaking. I also joined a CSR collective thanks to Entourage, which expanded my network and deepened my involvement in energy transition issues—especially by making me aware of challenges that are often underestimated.

Looking ahead, where do you see your trajectory in the next few years?
I see myself as an active contributor to Africa’s energy transition. My ambition is to help structure this sector, particularly by participating in the development of a clearer and more stable regulatory framework. I also want to get involved in local training, sharing my knowledge and fostering the emergence of a network of African talents firmly rooted in the continent’s realities.

What advice would you give to a diaspora professional who’s hesitant to take the leap?
First, clearly define your “why.” Then, take the time to prepare yourself well. And above all: try an Entourage session. It’s more than just a professional exchange—it’s a real moment of perspective, clarity, and vision. For me, it saved me precious time.
